Cops recover three illegal guns in separate raids

A 40-year-old labourer from New Grant is expected to face a Princes Town magistrate on Monday charged with having an illegal gun and ammunition.
Police claimed they found a home-made 12-gauge shotgun and two 12-gauge cartridges under a mattress in a bedroom at Kelvin Ramjitsingh s home.
A release from police on Saturday said at around 5 am on Friday, officers from the Princes Town CID searched the house at Hindustan Road, on the outskirts of Princes Town where the weapon was recovered.
Murder victim Curt Charles -
Recognising the upsurge in murders over the weekend, the cousin of slain Diego Martin mechanic Curt Charles, aka Daddy Curt, is calling on communities, religious groups and everyday citizens to do their part in restoring peace and reducing crime.
Charles, 47, was shot dead early on Saturday morning at Ravine Road, Petit Valley.
He was one of eight men killed in unrelated shootings across Trinidad and Tobago between Friday and Sunday.
Speaking with Newsday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Monday, Charles s cousin Stevie Jerome said he would remember Charles as a loving man who shared with others, and did not know why anyone would want him killed.
