North Carolina sheriff identifies deputies involved in fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr.

The Pasquotank County sheriff on Thursday identified three deputies he said fired shots at Andrew Brown Jr. and four other deputies involved in the incident in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, who have returned to duty from administrative leave.
Sheriff Tommy Wooten said in a news release that he looked at body camera footage and other evidence.
Demonstrators who are protesting the shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. remain in streets after curfew
Police told people protesting last week’s police shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. to head home ahead of an 8 p.m. curfew imposed by Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
It was the seventh night of demonstrations since Brown was fatally shot by deputies who came to his home to serve arrest and search warrants.
The protests come as the FBI announced a federal civil rights investigation, and on the day attorneys for the Brown family released information from an independent autopsy they said shows Brown was shot in the back of the head as he tried to drive away from deputies shooting at him.

A North Carolina judge ruled Wednesday that video from four body cameras associated with the shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. will not be released publicly at this time.
The judge went on the grant, in part, a petition from the Pasquotank County Sheriff s office allowing the disclosure of the body cameras to Brown s family and one of their legal representatives. The disclosure means the family and an attorney can view the videos but will not be given their own copies or allowed to make recordings.
