BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man they say obtained money under false pretenses.
Authorities said that on Dec. 23 and Dec. 24, 2020, this man in the Forest Area took $1,900.
Anyone with information that can identify him is asked to call 540-586-4800 or submit a tip to Central Virginia Crime Stoppers via phone at 1-888-798-5900.
(Bedford County release) On 01/01/2021 at approximately 1:35AM the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Lynchburg Police Department that they were in pursuit of a vehicle heading into Bedford County, in reference to an assault and battery investigation. The vehicle entered Bedford County on Rt. 460 heading westbound. Bedford County Deputies joined in the pursuit with Lynchburg Units pursuing the vehicle toward the Town of Bedford at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle then while attempting to pass a County EMS Vehicle, struck the vehicle twice before getting around the EMS vehicle. Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Units were able to successfully deploy spike strips which disabled the suspect vehicle, resulting in the pursuit coming to an end. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

A woman has been reported missing out of Bedford County, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
64-year-old Linda Peery was reported missing on Saturday and authorities are asking for the public’s help in finding her.
Peery may be driving a black or dark blue Chevrolet Impala with Virginia tags “XXB-9636.”
Anyone with information about Perry’s whereabouts is asked to contact Sergeant Arney at 540-586-4800 extension 4063.

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – A woman was arrested Saturday for stealing a motor vehicle among other belongings from a Bedford property back in November.
On Nov. 30, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 6000 block of Stewartsville Road for a burglary.
Authorities said the victim reported the larceny of “many firearms, tools, cash and a motor vehicle” from the property.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Shannon Elaine Halton was taken into custody by members of the US Marshals Task Force on Dec. 19.
