BENGALURU: The number of Covid-19 patients under treatment in Karnataka has dipped below 50,000 for the first time in nearly 90 days, as fresh cases have dropped and daily discharges have increased.
As of July 3, the number of active cases in Karnataka stood at 48,116. The last time the state reported less than 50,000 was on April 7 (49,254), after which a consistent increase in fresh cases had pushed the state to the top of the table as far as active cases go.
From being the state with the most active cases for the most part of the second wave Maharashtra was on top in the initial weeks Karnataka has now slipped to third place. Maharashtra and Kerala, the only two states with more than one lakh active cases as on date, are on top.
