Early voting is underway in San Antonio for high-profile races, including the mayor, City Council, a proposition aimed at repealing police officers’ collective bargaining power and a proposition that could expand the use of bonds.
Election Day is set for May 1, but locals can submit a ballot now through April 27 during the early voting period.
Hours for early voting will be:
Monday, April 19-Friday, April 23: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, April 24: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Early voting for the May 1 citywide election gets underway Monday and will run through Tuesday, April 27. Voters will determine who serves as mayor, which candidates will fill 10 city council seats and who will serve on a variety of school boards. Those in outlying cities will have their own municipal elections in which to cast ballots. Alamo City voters also will decide the fate of two amendments to the city charter. Proposition A would broaden the range of projects the city can fund by issuing public bonds, while Proposition B would cut back on the San Antonio police union s bargaining power.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg: The incumbent filed on Jan. 22 and is seeking a third term. He was first elected in 2017. In 2019, he defeated Greg Brockhouse in a runoff with 51 percent of the vote.
