Catoctin Creek Distilling Company And GWAR Are Ready To Rock & Roll With Ragnarök Rye

URCELLVILLE, Va. Catoctin Creek Distilling Co., The Virginia Rye Whisky ?, WAS excited to partner with GWAR to release their infamous Ragnarök Rye this past February… but then the monster metal rock band drank it… all of it.
“We knew working with GWAR on this whisky would be troublesome, but we didn’t realize it would be this troublesome,” said Catoctin Creek founder and general manager, Scott Harris. “Usually, we have the production process under control, but this time the band members drank everything we distilled, and then demanded we create bottle toppers using rare metal ore sourced from the fillings of trolls,” continues Harris. “I knew our original schedule was shot. I mean, it’s really cool to have rare metal in our bottle design, but it was hard rounding up all those trolls.”

The first week of May is a great time to put out hummingbird feeders, as these tiny welcome signs of spring are just making their way back to the area from Central America.
Becky Harris, a member of the Boxborough Birders Steering Committee who holds a PhD in biology with a focus on birds, said although she has yet to spot a hummingbird in her yard this year, there have been many sightings on the Cape and northshore. They re back, said Harris.
Although there are 300 species of hummingbirds worldwide, only one species the ruby-throated hummingbird is found in Massachusetts, and basically anywhere else east of the Mississippi.

Anyone who believes whiskey is a man’s drink probably hasn’t gotten out of the house in the last decade. In fact, women make up nearly 40% of whiskey consumers, according to a recent study by MRI-Simmons. And behind the scenes, women are taking on more leadership roles in the distillery than ever.
We wanted to highlight a handful of women in the whiskey industry, and that list quickly grew to 22. This is only the tip of the iceberg. To keep it manageable, we decided to limit the list to those working in the United States and those working in distilling and/or ownership roles. Each week this month, we also will take a deeper dive with some of the women here, so stay tuned.
Cole Harris signed recently to play football with Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. The Preston High senior played both football and basketball at PHS the last two years.
Harris played wide receiver for Preston High School s football team. He said he had to be convinced to play the sport, but is glad he did and credited his team mates and coaches for helping him get to this point. I m really grateful for all the support I ve got, and all the love I ve got from Preston, he said. It s an amazing opportunity.

Of the offers Harris received, this one was his best fit between playing football and what he wants to study, said his father, Clint. Cole plans to study biology and go into the medical field.

Catoctin Creek Releases Its Annual Rabble Rouser Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey
Catoctin Creek Distilling Co. announced recently the annual release of their much sought after Rabble Rouser Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey. The Virginia-based distiller brought to market earlier this month over 100 cases available around the U.S. double the amount that they were able to offer in 2020.
“Due to better planning and growing reserves, [we] are really excited to offer more Rabble Rouser this year,” Catoctin Creek co-founder and general manager Scott Harris said, in a prepared statement. “Because it’s been so limited in the past, this may be the first time a lot of folks will be able to purchase it, and we’re looking forward to hearing what they think!”
