Expanded coverage of the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) will anchor TVG s weekend coverage as the award-winning network is live from Gulfstream Park with exclusive behind-the-scenes features, interviews and expert analysis. Gulfstream Park officials announced Sunday additional invitations to the $3-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and $1-million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), to be held Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track.
Independence Hall, a 12 ¼-length winner of the Nashua (G2) at two and runner-up in the Sam F. Davis (G3) at three, and Coastal Defense, fourth Nov. 27 in the Clark (G1), have received invitations for the 1 1/8-mile Pegasus World Cup and have been added to the also-eligible list.
Moving into the main body of the Pegasus World Cup from the also-eligible list are Grade 1 winner Math Wizard and Tampa Bay Derby (G2) winner King Guillermo.

Amerman Racing LLC s Admission Office will return from a six-month layoff in Saturday s $100,000 Tropical Turf (G3) at Gulfstream Park. In a perfect world, the 6-year-old son of Point of Entry would be bypassing the mile turf stakes to prepare for a second straight start in the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) Jan. 23.
“We would have loved to run in the Pegasus Turf again, but he hasn t run since June. He needed some time off after his last race and the Pegasus Turf comes up too soon,” said trainer Brian Lynch, noting a prep race would have been needed to make it back to the Pegasus Turf.

Todd Pletcher ended his holiday weekend in a unique situation, reports the
Daily Racing Form (DRF). After Colonel Liam s win in the $75,000 Tropical Park Derby at Gulfstream Park, the trainer could be gearing up to run three horses in the Pegasus World Cup Turf on Jan. 25.
Colonel Liam made light work of his rivals with a 3 1/2-length victory on Saturday, recording a final time of 1:40.95 for 1 1/16 miles. This was the son of Liam s Map s second win from three starts on the turf, and his first start since a fourth-place finish in the Saratoga Derby on Aug. 15.
