A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at a Bournemouth Hotel. Police were called to the Travelodge just after 8am on Wednesday, December 9, last year, following reports a woman had been found dead. The victim, who died of multiple blunt force head injuries, was named as 27-year-old Marta Vento, a Spanish national who was living in Bournemouthb and working as a receptionist at the Christchurch Road hotel. Stephen Cole, aged 32, from Bournemouth, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Following an assessment by mental health professionals, he was detained under section 2 of the Mental Health Act and placed into the care of mental health services.

Naheem Ahmed committed the offence aged 17 when he was at the wheel of the vehicle in Westover Road and Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, on July 5, 2019. The defendant also did not have insurance or a driving licence at the time. He pleaded guilty to the three charges last year and appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 11, for sentencing. Ahmed, who is now 19 and of Ida Road, London, received a community order, whereby he must carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and 30 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.
