Covid-19 patients at DCH now down to single figures

THE number of patients receiving treatment for coronavirus at Dorset County Hospital has sharply fallen within a week as people recover and are sent home. Professor Alastair Hutchison, chief medical officer at the hospital, confirmed that as of Wednesday, March 3, Dorset County Hospital staff were treating eight patients with Covid-19, including one person in intensive care. The week before, Wednesday, February 24, there were 25 patients with Covid-19 at the Dorchester hospital. He commented last week that the numbers of coronavirus patients had ‘plateaued’ and suggested this may be down to patients taking a long time to recover from the virus and be subsequently discharged.

Chance for colleagues to say goodbye to Krzysztof Gogolewski

Krzysztof Gogolewski, who worked at Poole Hospital s maternity unit, died on February 16. His funeral is due to be held at Poole Crematorium on Monday March 8 but due to Covid-19 restrictions there are strict limitations on the number of people who can attend. So his family has arranged for his funeral cortege to stop outside Poole Hospital en route. A guard of honour will be formed outside the Longfleet Road entrance to the hospital. Krzysztof, 63, became ill several weeks before is death. He had not received the coronavirus vaccination. Following his death, his wife, Margaret, and daughter, Marta Saganowska, paid tribute to him.

And born on the first day of the second lockdown on 05/11/2020 Nellie-Rae Philippa Hulse arrived at Poole hospital, weighing 6lb 2oz to mum Ebony Rae Hulse who said: I couldn’t thank the midwives and doctors enough for what they did for Nellie-Rae and I!
