As dramatic scenes unraveled in the Capitol on Wednesday – with a horde plowing through security – the jarring live video showed a woman draped in a Trump flag who has been shot by a plainclothes officer as she allegedly purported to breach the storied chambers via the window. She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later died from her wounds.
That woman was later identified as a 14-year Air Force veteran from San Diego, Calif. Her name was Ashli Babbitt.

The woman shot and killed by Capitol police Wednesday was a 35-year-old named Ashli Babbitt, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund said Thursday. Babbitt was a resident of Ocean Beach, California.
Her husband spoke to KUSI, a San Diego television station, and said she was a U.S. Air Force veteran and supporter of President Donald Trump.
Videos posted to social media appears to show the chaotic scene in which Babbitt was shot. Protesters had stormed the Capitol after Mr. Trump gave a speech once again demanding the election results be overturned. Babbitt was among those who breached the building.

U.S. Capitol Police identified military veteran Ashli Babbitt as the woman who was shot Wednesday amid a riot inside the Capitol. As protesters were forcing their way toward the House Chamber where Members of Congress were sheltering in place, a sworn (U.S. Capitol Police) employee discharged their service weapon, striking an adult female, police said in a statement Thursday. Medical assistance was rendered immediately, and the female was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Ashli Babbitt.

The 35-year-old was shot by a Capitol police officer.
She was transported to a local hospital where, after all life-saving efforts failed, she was announced deceased, said Police Chief Robert Contee of Washington, D.C. s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
The woman began climbing through a broken window near the Speaker s Lobby at the Capitol building before a single gunshot was heard and she fell back to the ground.
