Check It Out At The Mashpee Library

Mashpee Public Library Has Resumed Curbside Service The Mashpee Library is temporarily limiting public access to the building in an effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. We have resumed our contactless “curbside” model of service. The health and safety of our staff and patrons are our top priorities and the decision to pause in-person library visits was made after much thought and consideration. Though we will not be providing assistance to you inside the building, we remain committed to providing you with a range of services and resources. You will still be able to borrow books and other items from our collections by placing items on hold. Please wait until you receive a notice that your items are ready for pickup before coming to the library. We are only able to check out holds that have been made in advance and will not be able to fulfill in-person requests.

Chicago could adopt garden registry soon

By Brandon Chew Chicago environmental groups are pushing to protect urban gardens from fines levied for having too many weeds. The proposal, introduced in the city council in late January, would create a Managed Native Garden Registry to protect gardeners who follow sustainable landscaping practices from weed ordinance citations. “We have over a dozen co-sponsors I think strong support from across city council,” said Colleen Smith, the deputy director of the Illinois Environmental Council. Smith said that she expects the proposal to go into effect soon, possibly when the City Council meets on March 24. She also said the city’s weed ordinance is overenforced.
