Earth Defense Force 2 and 3 will invade Nintendo Switch in 2021

Earth Defense Force 2 and
Earth Defense Force 3. D3 Publisher announced the details in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine (via Ryokutya2089).
The developer for the Nintendo Switch port of
EDF2 is Sandlot, the makers of the original PlayStation 2 game and PS Vita remake,
EDF2: Invaders from Planet Space. The Switch version will be based on the PS Vita version, so it’ll include the Air Raider class and other features introduced in the remake. Furthermore, Sandlot is working on improving analog stick controls and options to adjust aim speed and acceleration for the Switch version.

As reported by Weekly Famitsu, both
Earth Defense Force 2017 are headed to Switch in Japan, joining the already announced
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers. The former is launching on 15th July, while the latter is planned for an autumn release (thanks, Gematsu).
Both of these newly-revealed titles will reportedly feature similar specifications to the versions previously released on PS Vita; both games originally launched on home consoles in the 2000s before getting the remake treatment on Vita several years later. As fans of the series will know, each game has players taking on the role of an Earth Defence Force soldier during an alien invasion.

The show is limited due to how NIS America licensed it so it’s only available to audiences in the US and Canada and it’s in its original Japanese language with English subtitles.
