BOONE, N.C. (WBTV) - A clogging dance group represented their home state of North Carolina Wednesday in the virtual inaugural parade for President Joe Biden.
One group from each of our states and territories was chosen to perform to highlight the diversity and heritage of each part of America.
The High Country Cloggers from Boone honored North Carolinaâs official dance: clogging.
Amber Hendley, who runs the studio, said the cloggers were excited to participate in the âParade Across America.â
Winter Fun in the Western Carolinas
Many families head to the mountains of western North Carolina for summertime fun, but it turns out there’s plenty to do when the temperatures reach their icy lows, too.
Winter activities in the area may require lots of extra layers the average low temperature of the state’s western mountainous region drops to 20 degrees Fahrenheit in January, the coldest month of the year but they are indeed available, and equally as fun.
On a recent family reunion trip, 28 of my relatives rented separate cabins in the tiny town of Seven Devils, located in the heart of the North Carolina High Country, which put us within a short driving distance from many of western North Carolina’s charming attractions.

The state’s rolling COVID-19 positivity rate dropped for the fifth straight day Wednesday as Illinois Department of Public Health officials reported 5,862 new confirmed and probable cases with an additional 97 deaths.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate stood at 7.3%, down from 8.5% one week ago and down two-tenths of a percentage point from Tuesday.
Wednesday marked two months since the state’s rolling positivity rate peaked at 13.2% on Nov. 13. The entire state has been under Tier 3 mitigations since Nov. 20 in an effort to prevent an exacerbated spike in cases around the holidays.
