We look forward to a successful third season growing organic produce and flowers to donate to community members experiencing hunger. We have been accepted into the AmeriCorps Vista program ‘End Hunger in Maine by 2030’ and are looking for a qualified team member to help us achieve our ambitious goals to feed our community. This is a full-time, year-long capacity building position.

Dear Editor: I would like to thank everyone involved in providing the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Boothbay Region YMCA on Jan. 25. Both inside and outside the facility I was treated so well. I am 85 years old and use a walker. I was greeted at the door and was given a wheelchair to use. I don’t think these people get thanked enough and I do appreciate people who help others. Thank you very much.

BILL PEARSON/Boothbay Register The coronavirus pandemic may have impacted Ed Crocker’s life more than any other player, coach, or sports official. Crocker has refereed high school basketball for 26 years before deciding against officiating this season. Maine’s high school basketball season is underway as teams play a reduced schedule while players, coaches and officials don masks. This winter is not the first time the pandemic has impacted Crocker’s role in youth athletics.

Officials stressed that, for now, there will be limited supplies of the vaccine and that demand is expected to far exceed availability. Waldo County General Hospital and Pen Bay Medical Center will open the area’s first vaccination clinics for the general public on January 27 and January 29, respectively. The Waldo County clinic will be located in Building #6 in the former MBNA complex at 21 Schoodic Drive in Belfast. The Knox County vaccination clinic will be located at the Samoset Resort, Samoset Inn Road, Rockport.
