A skyscraper and a tower designed by architect Jason Long and architecture firm OMA have topped out in the Greenpoint neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York.
Brookfield Properties and Park Tower Group are developing the project as part of Greenpoint Landing, a waterfront development master-planned by Park Tower Group.
The two towers at Greenpoint Landing have topped out
The stepped residential buildings are designed to look as if a single building has been torn apart and the two halves placed next to each other.
The South Tower has reached its full height of 400 feet (122 metres) and the North Tower topped out at 300 feet (91 metres).
Park Tower Group announced an agreement with Pure Green, a fast-growing cold pressed juice and smoothie chain, to open its newest location at Greenpoint Landing, a 22-acre development stretching for half a mile along Brooklyn’s waterfront.
The popular shop, which features a variety of healthy food offerings including wellness shots, smoothies, acai and pitaya bowls, and more, will occupy an 840 s/f storefront at 5 Blue Slip, a space that directly overlooks the recently renovated and expanded Newtown Barge Park and esplanade.
Pure Green at Greenpoint Landing will be the brand’s second Brooklyn location, and is expected to be open to the public starting this summer.
Marvel’s Jonathan Marvel and Dattner’s Kirsten Sibilia
In the early weeks of 2020, architect Jonathan Marvel saw a steady stream of multifamily and public works jobs come across his desk.
“And then everything came to a screeching halt,” he said.
Marvel’s eponymous firm wasn’t alone. Design work dried up during the height of the pandemic as many construction sites shut down and financing became scarce.
Still, once construction work was permitted to resume in New York, many firms saw business pick back up.
The Real Deal compiled a list of the most active architecture firms of 2020, based on the square footage of ground-up projects.
