K-drama review: Navillera - Netflix ballet drama is undemanding yet rewarding, and soars like a butterfly in the end

The big question about Navillera has been clear since the first episode: will the septuagenarian retired postman Sim Deok-chool (Park In-hwan) realise his dream of performing Swan Lake on stage? Though a simple enough goal, he has had to face several challenges along the way.

Deok-chool’s Alzheimer’s condition was hinted at pretty early on and it was clearly going to feature prominently as the show approached its endgame
Although there are a few moments where the melodrama is overdone, for the most part Navillera manages to steer clear of cheap sentimentality

Apart from setting the viewers into an emotional whirlwind, the SBS drama received a high viewership rating from its previous episodes.

According to Nielsen Korea, Navillera episode 12 scored a total of 3.679 percent based on the nationwide ratings, breaking its personal viewership record with the last episode.

TvN s subtle, heartwarming series, Navillera, starring actors Park In-hwan and Song Kang, finished its run Tuesday, failing to garner a successful viewership rating despite a compelling performance by veteran lead actor Park.
The 12-part series saw a 3.7 percent rating nationwide and 4 percent in the metropolitan area. The viewership rating from people in their 20s through 40s, the main target of the network, only reached 1.8 percent nationwide.

With just one episode left, Navillera sends fans into an emotional whirlwind with the highs and lows in the lives of the main leads.
The Strength of Sim Deok Chul and Choi Hae Nam s Marriage Navillera episode 11 showed the strength of Sim Deok Chul (Park In Hwan) and Choi Hae Nam (Na Moon Hee) marriage despite the hurdles in life.
It starts with the 70-year-old returning to their home together with his two sons, where the matriarch patiently waits for them.
