Two weeks ago, I set out to explore a few fun places to walk in greater Dartmouth. I had been asked to check out a place called The Acushnet Sawmill and when I was in the area, I saw Acushnet Sawmill Wildlife Management and assumed this was the same place boy, was I wrong.
I was hit with “You went to the wrong place!” e-mails from a few of you including an e-mail from the communications director of the Buzzards Bay Coalition, Michael Graca. In an effort to redeem myself, this week I headed to the correct Sawmill.

Wild for Wareham,” a collaboration by the Wareham Land Trust, Mass Audubon, and Buzzards Bay Coalition’s Onset Bay Center is a full week of outdoor activities highlighting all of the natural wonders that Wareham has to offer. The programs run during school vacation (April 17 – 24, 2021). Some of the events are funded by grants from organizations including the Wareham Cultural Council and the Southeast New England Program (SNEP) of the EPA; some are co-sponsored by additional organizations including the Wareham Garden Club & the Wareham Coordinated Family and Community Engagement Committee (see individual links for program details & partnerships).

MATTAPOISETT The Mattapoisett Land Trust’s Santos Farm Reserve will join the Old Aucoot conservation district, adding eight acres to the district.
Selectmen approved the addition at an April 13 meeting, where Land Trust President Mike Hugenin and Allen Decker of the Buzzards Bay Coalition presented the addition.
The conservation restriction for the Old Aucoot District, a 397-acre collection of preserves, will be amended to include the abutting Santos Farm, bringing the total number of preserves in the district to 13.
The Land Trust acquired the property at the end of Bowman Road last December. Until then, it was used as an active farm where pigs were raised.
