It may not be allowed to quite have a full house just yet but organisers at a bingo hall opened their doors once again today.
And players heading to Fenton s Buzz Bingo this evening were due to be greeted by singer Coleen Nolan who is poised to host a special game to celebrate the venue s reopening.
STAFF and customers at Buzz Bingo at Basingstoke’s Leisure Park were very excited to see doors reopen to the public this morning (Monday, May 17). Under new guidelines in force from today, people can meet indoors in groups of up to six people (or two households) and remaining leisure facilities including cinemas, museums, theatres and bingo halls have been allowed to reopen with capacity limits and safety measures. Paula Joynson, general manager at Buzz Bingo Basingstoke, said: “We’re really excited. It’s been a long year, really. For the past 9 weeks we have been getting the club ready. “People have had the vaccine as well and are a bit more happy to come out.”
It s the longest time I ve been off Debbie Eccles, who has been running the Sunflower Café for almost 16 years, was delighted to welcome customers back to her spot in Buckton’s Yard after being closed since the start of the November lockdown. She said: “It’s been a bit like being a new starter this morning. It was nice to see the regulars coming back and seeing that they are ok. It was a busy morning. “People have been really happy and really looking forward to getting back. “It’s still worrying really. There are thoughts about are we going to survive and that kind of thing but hopefully people will keep coming back.
