LUTZ, Fla. - Exactly one week ago, Master Police Officer Jesse Madsen with the Tampa Police Department put his life on the line to stop a wrong-way driver, and Tuesday, loved ones, colleagues, and members of the community will pay their final respects to the fallen officer.
A morning procession carried Madsen to the Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, where funeral services were held and open to the public.
Hundreds of fellow law enforcement officers from across the state – even from out-of-state – were in attendance to honor Madsen, along with Governor Ron DeSantis.

TAMPA, Fla. â Neighbors lined up Tuesday morning to support fallen Tampa Police Officer Jesse Madsen s family as a motorcade escorted them to his funeral. The entire neighborhood lined up for a mile or so down old woods to show the motorcade and family support, neighbor Tom Mcclanahan said. It was amazing how many people came out. Itâs very hard to hold back the tears. Anyone who knew this man was touched by his kindness. Truly a wonderful human being.

LUTZ â Officer Jesse Madsen considered everyone he met to be family.
He was born to a young mother who loved him but knew she couldnât care for him, so he went home from the hospital with an adoptive family. After a few weeks, the family decided his skin was too dark and he was given up again.
