The 2021 Overwatch League Summer Showdown continued to deliver unpredictable action on Sunday as the Paris Eternal, Boston Uprising and Toronto Defiant picked up victories.
The biggest match of the day was the Paris Eternal (5-5, 5 points) making a shocking comeback against the Los Angeles Gladiators (7-3, 7 points), completing a 3-2 reverse sweep. The Gladiators started strong and looked poised to sweep through the Eternal, taking Oasis 2-0 and Eichenwalde 2-1.
Then, on Route 66, Paris adjusted their play style, shifting their tempo up to try and wrestle control of the flow away from Los Angeles. The Gladiators didn t respect the adjustment, leading to a 3-2 win for the Eternal. This would continue on Temple of Anubis, leading to a 2-1 Paris win to bring the series to a Game 5.

Sunday, June 27
Chengdu Hunters 3 - 0 Guangzhou Charge
New York Excelsior 3 - 0 Los Angeles Valiant
Los Angeles Gladiators 2 - 3 Paris Eternal
Boston Uprising 3 - 0 Florida Mayhem
Toronto Defiant 3 - 0 Vancouver Titans
Boston s win over Vancouver was nice, but the Titans haven t won a single match this season so it wasn t all too surprising.
But that momentum carried over into a major win over Florida, who the Uprising had not bested since March 2019. While Valentine s Torbjorn turret rightfully deserves a ton of praise for aim-bot excellence in the matchup, so does the rookie support: Faith.

The final week of June Joust qualifiers continued on Friday with the Los Angeles Gladiators, San Francisco Shock and Washington Justice picking up wins.
The main event of the day saw the Washington Justice (5-2, 5 points) dominate a strong team in the Florida Mayhem (4-4, 5 points) in a 3-0 series sweep. The win helps the Justice keep their June Joust hopes alive, while the loss eliminates the Mayhem, who posted a top-four finish in the May Melee, from June Joust contention.
The Justice had struggled in their previous matches, but on Friday they had star DPS Gui-un Decay Jang rejoin the starting lineup. Decay s presence emboldened the rest of Washington, which played with great energy in their 2-0 win on Oasis to start the series.

The final week of June Joust qualifiers kicked off with a bang on Thursday as the Paris Eternal and Dallas Fuel picked up wins.
The Dallas Fuel (4-3, 6 points) took a 3-2 slobberknocker of a series against the Florida Mayhem (4-3, 5 points). Both teams were committed to the Winston-led brawl composition that has dominated the meta (Winston/D.va/Echo/Reaper/Lucio/Moira), resulting in long fights similar to the GOATs meta of seasons past.
Both teams fought tooth and nail from map to map, with Florida taking Game 1 on Lijiang Tower 2-1 and Dallas taking Game 2 on Hanamura 3-2. The Fuel picked up Hollywood 4-3, going up 2-1 in the series, but the Mayhem responded with a 3-1 win on Junkertown. In Game 5, though, the Mayhem ran out of gas, allowing the Fuel to take Oasis 2-0 for the series win.
