AIA awards research grants to advance climate action
Upjohn Research Initiative supports AIA s commitment to climate action by awarding grants to sustainable design research.
WASHINGTON - April 29, 2021 - The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Upjohn Research Initiative
provides up to $30,000 to four research projects that will advance sustainable
architectural design and practice.
The purpose of the grant is to provide base funds for applied research
projects that will advance the design profession’s knowledge and practice. This
year’s recipients will research climate change mitigation and adaptation
strategies for the built environment.

Meghan Monteiro may be Palm Beach Day Academy’s new director of philanthropy, but she’s not new to Palm Beach.
She and her three older siblings were born at St. Mary’s Medical Center, where her mom spent her entire career, starting as a neonatal intensive care nurse and working up to chief operations officer.
Monteiro grew up in West Palm Beach’s south end, in the house her parents live in today. She attended Rosarian Academy from pre-K to eighth grade and graduated from Cardinal Newman High. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and studio art at the University of Vermont.
