McLeod Health fully vaccinates 2,000 SC teachers for COVID at mass clinic during Phase 1b

Apr. 2 Thousands who were the first to receive vaccines under Phase 1b in South Carolina got their second shots Thursday at Darlington Raceway s mass immunization clinic.
Phase 1b greatly expanded vaccine eligibility in the state, including to teachers and those with pre-existing health conditions. The first Darlington Raceway clinic, hosted by McLeod Health on March 5, got special permission from the state to include Phase 1b participants three days early.
McLeod estimates that the clinic immunized about 2,000 teachers last month, many from the Florence School District One. They were expected to return Thursday for their second dose of the Moderna vaccine.

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) – School districts across the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee are updating their learning plans for Thursday due to the threat of severe weather.
The following districts have announced changes for March 18. This list will be updated as more information comes in.
HORRY COUNTY SCHOOLS
Horry County Schools will operate on a distance-learning instructional schedule on Thursday due to the threat of severe weather.

FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) - The consolidation of Timmonsville’s Florence School District 4 was on the agenda during a Florence 1 Board of Trustees meeting Thursday.
FSD1 Superintendent Dr. Richard O’Malley said the opportunities provided by the district will be very beneficial to the students of Timmonsville’s Florence School District 4
This consolidation could also have a major financial impact.
While most district consolidations have taken place through specific legislation, the consolidation of Florence 4 is taking place through a budget proviso.
