FLORENCE, S.C. (WMBF) – Two brothers connected to a deadly shooting in Florence are now in custody, according to police.
Florence police Lt. Stephen Starling said Johnny Wells was located around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the VA hospital in Charleston and taken into custody without incident.
Johnny Wells and his brother Freddie Wells are both charged with murder, armed robbery and criminal conspiracy in connection to a deadly shooting Tuesday morning.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Authorities arrested a Darlington man in connection with a deadly shooting last fall at a Florence County motel.
According to information from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Marquell Tony Moore was charged March 1 with accessory after the fact of murder.
The charge stems from the Sept. 11, 2020 shooting at the Florence Inn and Suites that killed 36-year-old Detrick Gibbons, authorities said.

According to investigators, after the shooting, Moore, along with others, allegedly moved and concealed evidence, and failed to notify law enforcement or medical staff, or render aid to the victim.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Two people have been arrested in connection to a child abuse investigation in Florence County, deputies said.
Christopher Garrett Marsh, 51, is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Randy Smiley, superintendent for Florence School District Five, confirmed that Marsh submitted his resignation Wednesday, having served as the school board chairman.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A suspect is in custody after four antique vehicles were stolen from a Florence warehouse.
Deputies have charged 41-year-old Caryone Corry McDonald with possession of a stolen vehicle and operating a chop shop.
Authorities said the vehicles - a 1968 Buick Skylark, a 1972 Chevy Chevelle, a 1976 Chevy Corvette and a 1986 GMC Sierra 1500 – were stolen from a warehouse on Lawson Street last week.
Florence County deputies and officers with the Florence Police Department executed a search warrant Sunday on E. McIver Road and found the vehicles in a garage, according to a press release from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - A Florence County man is in custody after allegedly stealing catalytic converters, according to deputies.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office said 38-year-old Bobby Joe Filyaw, of Florence, was arrested Friday by investigators.
Deputies said Filyaw allegedly cut, removed and illegally transported the catalytic converters from vehicles at two locations on South Irby Street.
The sheriff’s office said it later executed a search warrant at a home on Bannockburn Road in conjunction with the arrest warrants and found a number of catalytic converters as well as tools commonly used to remove them from vehicles.
