The Brandon School Division board of trustees passed several motions during Monday’s regular meeting to help lay the groundwork for the next couple of school years.
To kick things off, the board approved their proposed budget dates for the 2022-23 school year, which will take place Feb. 17, 2022 (budget presentations), Feb. 22, 2022 (budget deliberations), Feb. 28, 2022 (public budget consultation) and March 7, 2022 (final budget approval).
Of course, these dates could be subject to change based on the provincial funding announcement made prior to Jan. 31, 2022.

An online debate is being held Tuesday featuring both candidates vying for the Meadows-Waverly seat on Brandon City Council.

Candidates Sunday Frangi and Gordon McRae are both running for the ward in next week’s byelection.

The seat was recently vacated by John LoRegio, who held the position since 2013 and resigned in the midst of a cancer diagnosis to devote time to his health and family.
The debate will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. at bit.ly/2PmpziD and is being hosted by community steward, Family Visions Inc. executive director and past Brandon East Liberal candidate Kim Longstreet.
Dallas Symphony names Pinchas Zukerman to new artistic/education position
The renowned violinist and conductor will also work with Southern Methodist University music students.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has named veteran violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman to a new position as artistic and principal education partner, starting in September.
Zukerman will direct and play in chamber orchestra concerts with DSO musicians, appear as violin soloist with the orchestra and join DSO musicians in chamber music performances. In partnership with Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, he also will offer students chamber music coaching and instrumental tutoring, in a mix of in-person instruction, distance learning and online masterclasses.
