ATHENS Josh Brooks has been named J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics at the University of Georgia.  Brooks will become UGA’s 12th athletic director, following the retirement of Greg McGarity, who held the position for 10 years. “From visionary and strategist to contract negotiator, fundraiser, and champion for student-athletes the modern-day athletic director must effectively wear many hats,” said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. “I am confident that Josh can wear all of these hats extraordinarily well, and I am excited to see our athletic program continue to evolve as one of the premier programs in the nation with him at the helm.”

UGA celebrates graduates with virtual ceremonies December 18, 2020 A total of 4,400 undergraduates and graduate students met requirements The University of Georgia welcomed its newest alumni virtually on Dec. 18. Graduates were celebrated in two different videos one for the undergraduate Commencement ceremony, and one for the graduate Commencement ceremony. Both videos can be viewed at commencement.uga.edu. “Today is symbolic of your resilience and determination, your adaptability and resourcefulness. I commend you for all you have overcome and all you have sacrificed to keep yourself and others safe during the pandemic,” said UGA President Jere W. We know that they have joined the 30-team East Coast Basketball League (ECBL) and will play in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. This after playing in the American Basketball Association for the past three years. But that s not stopping them from doing something now in our community. The Binghamton Bulldogs are participating in Hoops For Golisano. It s a coordinated effort in our area to make a difference in kid s lives that can really use it. They are collecting toys to take to Upstate Golisano s Children s Hospital on December 12th.
