Friday afternoon, Tigard Police responded to a report of three young men on top of the parking garage at the Washington Square Mall. The caller reported they were on top of a car, dancing around with what appeared to be an AR-15 rifle and a handgun. At one point, one of the young men pointed the rifle over the edge of the parking structure, toward the area of the mall.
While police were en route, the caller updated officers that the young men put the guns away inside a car and were heading toward the mall entrance. Responding officers detained them and learned the weapons were realistic looking replica BB guns.

A man was killed in Tigard early Friday morning in what police described as a domestic disturbance.

A man was shot and killed in what police described as a “domestic disturbance” in Tigard early Friday morning.
Officers responded to a call in the 15000 block of Southwest 79th Avenue around 12:45 a.m., police said in a statement.
Investigators found a man inside a home dead of a gunshot wound.
“Tigard Police detectives are investigating this shooting, and the Washington County District Attorney’s Office will be reviewing the case. There is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement. “At this time, no charges have been filed and the names of those involved are not being released.”

Gabriel Maldonado started working at the agency April 19, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported on Tuesday.
According to the Tigard Police Department, Maldonado fatally shot Jacob MacDuff, 26, while responding to a domestic violence call. The department said MacDuff was in his car with a knife when officers tried to arrest him. MacDuff refused to surrender and an officer shot him during a struggle, Tigard police said at the time.
