+ Ace undercover investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has described the threats of death and violence on the lives of some Ghanaian journalists as an act of barbarism and backwardness. For him, anonymous and open threats when not dealt with “breed impunity in our society.” In a statement posted on Facebook today [January 1, 2021], Anas said, “It is a terrible thing to practice journalism under conditions such as these, and it is even dangerous when nothing is done, and the perpetrators get to carry out their threats.” He has, therefore, called on the government as well as the security agencies to as a matter of urgency investigate the threats of death and violence on some Ghanaian journalists, including Manasseh Azure Awuni, Edward Adeti, Afia Pokuah, Captain Smart, Abdul Hayi Moomen, and David Tamakloe.
