A showy new sweet potato vine, two heavy-blooming new begonias, and arguably the best yellow petunia yet top the list of interesting new annual flowers debuting in 2021.
Growers, local garden centers, and other plant experts picked those and more for our four-part, best-new-plants series that we compile each January – a good month for gardeners to plan what to plant in the coming season.

Ace undercover investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has described the threats of death and violence on the lives of some Ghanaian journalists as an act of barbarism and backwardness.
For him, anonymous and open threats when not dealt with “breed impunity in our society.”
In a statement posted on Facebook today [January 1, 2021], Anas said, “It is a terrible thing to practice journalism under conditions such as these, and it is even dangerous when nothing is done, and the perpetrators get to carry out their threats.”
He has, therefore, called on the government as well as the security agencies to as a matter of urgency investigate the threats of death and violence on some Ghanaian journalists, including Manasseh Azure Awuni, Edward Adeti, Afia Pokuah, Captain Smart, Abdul Hayi Moomen, and David Tamakloe.
Posting what seemed like a New Year resolution, the undercover journalist said “there will be more fire” on persons who loot the national coffers with impunity and abuse human rights.
“Dear all, as we ready ourselves for 2021, let us not forget that we have only one Ghana!” Anas wrote.

Anas has built a reputation as an anti-corruption crusader and has exposed several corruption scandals in the country.
In 2018, Anas and his team from Tiger Eye PI premiered an investigative documentary titled “Number 12” which shook the foundations of Ghana football.
