SEVIERVILLE Sevier County residents will not be able to get Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine for COVID-19 for an undetermined amount of time after the federal government recommended a “pause” in distribution of the vaccine.
The Tennessee Department of Health announced Tuesday that it would follow federal recommendations to hold off on administering the vaccine while federal officials review reports of rare but dangerous blood clots in a handful of patients who have received the vaccine.
State officials said they expect to be able to continue providing vaccinations in Tennessee on schedule, although patients will need to take the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, both of which require two doses to be fully effective.

At the March 16 commission meeting, Gatlinburg resident John Northcote addressed commissioners with his concern about the âprofane flagsâ he has seen, telling them that the vehicles seem to mostly be in town on weekends.
He relayed that he had spoken previously with Gatlinburg Police Chief Randall Brackins, and Northcote thought at the time that officers had issued one citation and one warning the previous weekend. That turned out not to be the case.
âDuring the pursuit the Charger greatly exceeded the speed limit, and ran over barrels in a construction site launching them in several directions that could have caused serious injury to the public,â the warrants said.
âAt one point in front of Valley Forge Inn the Charger left the roadway and ran through several bushes along the sidewalk placing pedestrians in immediate danger.â
Allen was found behind the wheel of the Charger when officers arrived at the scene of the accident, and a blood sample showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .158, twice the legal limit for driving.
He was taken to a local hospital with injuries suffered in the accident.
