Man dead following Smokies car accident Wednesday, May 12, 2021
A Venezuelan man who had been living in Sevier County is dead following a traffic accident May 2 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Gian Montano Spagnolo, 25, was traveling south on the Spur when he lost control of his 2008 Nissan sedan near Caney Creek Road at approximately 3:06 a.m. He veered off the roadway and collided into multiple trees. Spagnolo was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the accident.
Pigeon Forge Fire Department, Pigeon Forge Police Department, Sevier County Ambulance and the Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and assisted on scene. Spagnolo, who was living and working in Sevier County prior to the accident, was transported by the Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. A Knoxville man is now facing charges for reckless endangerment and vandalism after shots rang out at a Pigeon Forge gas station in April during Rod Run weekend.
The Pigeon Forge Police Department said 22-year-old Chad Smith is charged in relation to the shooting, and had already been arrested in Knox County for an unrelated domestic assault.

TENNESSEE, USA Severe weather has impacted several counties in Tennessee resulting in power outages, debris, structural damage, and one weather-related fatality, according to Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
A State of Emergency remains in place with the State Emergency Operations Center activated in Nashville to support statewide severe weather efforts.
The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed one weather-related fatality in Weakley County in West Tennessee.
TEMA said that as of 8 a.m., there are 31,000 customers without power in Middle and West Tennessee.
