Early prison release granted for Lima woman

Jordyn Mitchell, who as a teenager took part in an organized scheme with three other individuals to rob her former boyfriend at gunpoint, was granted an early release from prison on Wednesday after serving nearly half of a three-year sentence. She was ordered to attend the WORTH Center and complete any recommended programs there.

Edward Thomas, 67, was deemed by forensic psychologists earlier this year to be incompetent to stand trial on second-degree felony charges of burglary. He was commited on Tuesday to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital in Toledo for extended treatment of his mental illness.

LIMA A 67-year-old Lima man with a history of mental illness and run-ins with the law in several states was committed Tuesday to the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital in Toledo for extended treatment.
Edward Thomas was deemed by forensic psychologists earlier this year to be incompetent to stand trial on second-degree felony charges of burglary. He was back in court Tuesday for a hearing to determine his short- and long-term future.
