Saints 2021 UDFA Profile: Bryce Thompson Will this defensive back be the the third straight University of Tennessee undrafted rookie to make an impact for the New Orleans Saints? Author: May 5, 2021 The New Orleans Saints have struck gold with undrafted talent out of the University of Tennessee in each of the last two years. Defensive tackle Shy Tuttle went undrafted in 2019 and had an immediate impact as a rookie. Terron Armstead on the Sidelines of SWAC Championship Game

May 2, 2021 Terron Armstead was spotted on the sidelines at the 2021 SWAC Championship game, supporting his alma mater, the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Before the Pro-Bowl left tackle was drafted by New Orleans and served as protector of Saints quarterbacks Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Taysom Hill, and Jameis Winston, Armstead made a name for himself at UAPB.  Armstead is one of the top NFL players from an HBCU program. ESPN s Jay Walker, announcing the contest with Tiffany Greene, ranked Armstead second behind Colts star linebacker Darrius Leonard. Terron took minor offense with Walker and told him that he s been in the league longer and at a high level should have him ranked at #1 on Walker s list.

Saints 2021 Draft Pick: Payton Turner

Saints 2021 Draft Pick: Payton Turner A surprising first round selection, how will Payton Turner fare in New Orleans? Author: May 3, 2021 The New Orleans Saints shocked many observers when they used the 28th pick in the first round of the NFL draft to select University of Houston defensive end Payton Turner. Several expected the Saints to address a huge need at cornerback with their first round choice, or perhaps address the linebacker spot or add a wideout. Instead, New Orleans pulled one of the biggest surprises in the first round. A closer look reveals their thought process behind the pick. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson departed in free agency after leading the team with 13.5 sacks last year. Perennial Pro Bowler Cameron Jordan was not as productive as he’d been in years past. Marcus Davenport, the 14th overall pick of the 2018 draft, continues to struggle with injuries and has produced below expectations.

Author: May 3, 2021 There s been some time to reflect on the New Orleans Saints draft class for 2021, and it s time to think a little bit more about these picks.  Payton Turner, DE, Houston - 1st Round, 28th Overall The first thing that stands out about Turner is his attitude. He has some dominant traits to his game, and that prototype the Saints look for is evident. This is where maybe the thought process should be challenged a bit. What if Turner ends up being the Trey Hendrickson replacement instead of Carl Granderson? We ve seen the workout videos and it looks promising for him.
