MANGALURU: A day after Dakshina Kannada recorded a low Covid-19 test positivity rate (TPR) of 3.6%, the district showed an increase in the number of daily cases on Tuesday. The district, which reported 219 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Monday, recorded 307 fresh cases on Tuesday. The district’s TPR increased from 3.6% on Monday to 5.2% on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the district also reported nine fatalities that took the death tally to 1,443. Of the nine fatalities, four are patients from other districts, who died in hospitals in Dakshina Kannada. Though 286 patients were discharged, the active caseload increased from 2,948 to 2,960.
The district added 10 more containment zones, including five in Mangaluru taluk, two each in Bantwal and Belthangady taluks and one in Puttur.
