Smart Farming Spring Seminar for Kilkenny farmers

Smart Farming, the resource efficiency programme, run by the Irish Farmers’ Association in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will host its 2021 Smart Farming Spring Seminar today (Thursday) from 11am to 12.30pm, which coincides with World Earth Day.
Registration to attend the event can be made at ifa.ie/SFSpring2021.
The seminar will be held online via Microsoft Teams. The theme of the event is “Restore & Enhance Farmland”.
It will focus on ongoing work within the sector both here and in the UK to restore and enhance farmland, improve productivity, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture.

Farmers that participated in Smart Farming in 2020 identified average cost savings of €5,600 and average greenhouse gas emission reductions of 9%.
Smart Farming is a voluntary resource efficiency programme led by the IFA in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency. The programme is now accepting 2021 applications.
IFA President Tim Cullinan said programmes like Smart Farming that work with farmers to deliver change at farm level have never been so important. They help guide and support farmers to change farming practices.
“Smart Farming demonstrates that improving efficiency can deliver significant cost savings as well as emission reductions, without negatively impacting productivity on farms,” said the IFA President.

fenaco, Agroscope, the OST (Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences), Sunrise UPC and Huawei are bundling their expertise to drive 5G-based smart technologies for Swiss agriculture.
