Supermarket chain Iceland is to open a new store in central York.
The company is taking over the old Homesense shop at Foss Islands Road, which closed just over a year ago.
Iceland expects the move to create 40 jobs, 10 full-time and 30 part-time.
It will add to the concentration of supermarkets in the Foss Bank and Foss Islands area, with Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose and budget retailers B&M and Home Bargains already all having stores within half a mile.
Iceland has been expanding across the UK in recent years, opening more than 100 of its larger The Food Warehouse branches, including at Clifton Moor in York, in addition to its regular stores.
