Nine arrested and crack cocaine seized after police swoop on Chesterfield area drugs gangs
A week of action against organised criminals in Chesterfield has seen nine people arrested and a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine powder and heroin seized by officers.

The five days of action saw targeting of drug dealers and organised criminals in the north east and north west of Derbyshire.
It focused on offences including possession with intent to supply class A and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Working in conjunction with Safer Neighbourhood teams, SALCU road crime units, firearms and uniform task force colleagues, two warrants were carried out, along with numerous stops of cars believed to be involved in county lines drug running.

They have reported fewer than three cases of the virus in a seven day period.

A vulnerable victim says she struggles to sleep at night after suffering a brutal attack outside a Derbyshire pub.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates court how Anne Marie Mettam was found guilty of carrying out an unprovoked assault on the victim, outside a public house in Chesterfield.
The hearing revealed how the 36-year-old defendant had been heard arguing with a man before she walked up to the victim, hit her in the face, grabbed her woolly hat and ran away.

Chesterfield areas with the lowest Covid-19 rates with just 94 cases in one neighbourhood
Latest Public Health England data shows there are 13 Chesterfield neighbourhoods which have the lowest rates of coronavirus with less than 250 cases per 100,000.

Based on tests in hospitals and in the community in the week to January 28, there were over a dozen areas in Chesterfield which had a rate of fewer than 250 Covid-19 infections in every 100,000 people – making them the most virus suppressed neighbourhoods in the town.
There was one town close to Chesterfield which had an average rate of 94.9 cases per 100,000 people in this most recently recorded period, significantly lower than the country’s average.
