(WHEC)  State Senate Republicans are pushing for New York State to give residents a state income tax break on the first $10,200 of unemployment benefits from 2020 as the federal government has. Jim Tedisco (R, 49) Wednesday offered an amendment on the Senate Floor, which was supported by Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt (R, 62) and the entire Senate Republican Conference, according to a GOP press release.

Share Starting Late Tonight, North Country, Mohawk Valley and Central New York Regions Could See Up to a Foot of Wet, Heavy Snow     WYSIWYG Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today directed state agencies to prepare emergency response assets as a winter weather system is set to impact Upstate areas on Thursday with heavy, wet snow and create dangerous travel conditions and power outages.  Weather forecasters are predicting up to a foot of snow in parts of the North Country, Mohawk Valley and Central New York regions starting late this evening and continuing through Thursday evening. Other areas, including the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions, snowfall totals could reach up to six inches by Thursday afternoon, while locations in the Capital and Hudson Valley regions could see a mixture of snow and rain, with lighter snowfall totals.

Trumansburg Police Department releases revised plan

The Trumansburg Police Department (TPD) recently made public the revised version of its state mandated “Reform and Reinvention Collaboration Plan.” The plan begins with a message to the community from Trumansburg Police Chief Joe Nelson, originally posted in June 2020, in which he condemns the actions of the police officers involved in the death of George Floyd.  “I will not deploy officers into this community without knowing they can be trusted to do their job in accordance with the law, while maintaining the appropriate demeanor you deserve,” Nelson states.  Floyd’s death inspired youth-led protests in the village last summer.  The drafting of the plan was prompted by an executive order from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: On March 25, 2021, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law Senate Bill S867, an amendment to New York executive law, related to disclosures of disabled tenants’ rights. The amendment requires every housing provider to provide written notice to all tenants and prospective tenants of their rights to request reasonable modifications and accommodations in connection with certain disabilities recognized under New York law. The notice must be sent to current tenants by April 1, 2021, and to prospective tenants within 30 days of the effective date of their tenancy. WHO MUST COMPLY? A housing provider is a residential landlord or owner and includes all cooperative boards. The definition does not include condominium boards, except to the extent that a condominium board owns a unit that is occupied by a tenant. Individual condominium unit owners who lease their units must also comply.
