Black Button Distilling Stands Out In Burgeoning New York Spirits Industry
Craft distilleries are having a moment in America, even during the time of Covid. In fact, the number of distilleries have grown by 20 percent in the last five years. And a big bite of that apple is New York state distilleries, experiencing a 60-percent jump in numbers since 2016.
According to a 2020 economic impact study of the New York State Distilled Spirits Industry, the Empire State is now the second largest in terms of distillers in the country.
A standout among those craft distilleries is Rochester’s Black Button Distilling, the first grain-to-glass distillery in the city since prohibition. Black Button grew its business by more than 20 percent last year despite tougher restrictions and closings due to the pandemic.

The Oneida County Board of Elections Democratic commissioner has submitted a letter of resignation, and the Republican commissioner is expected to do the same after serious errors and violations were uncovered during court proceedings for the 22nd Congressional District race.

The New York State Board of Elections joined Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente in calling on both Carolann Cardone and Rose Grimaldi to resign, giving both women one week to step down.
Deadline to Change Political Party Has Been Extended
If you are interested in voting in the upcoming June 22nd New York State primary, you have a few more days to make sure that eligible to vote in that election.
According to WIVB, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an Executive Order New York that extended the deadline for updating your politiical affiliation.
For people who are already registered to vote, the deadline to change or update your political party was originally set for Sunday, February, 14th. This Executive Order gives New Yorkers two additional days to be able to make that change.
