New York City restaurant owners want state lawmakers to pass three alcohol related bills that would help their struggling industry during the pandemic.
Andrew Rigie with the New York City Hospitality Alliance says alcohol to go must be continued to be allowed in New York City as restaurants and bars recover.
“Serving alcohol to go has become an incredibly important lifeline for local restaurants and it’s become extraordinarily popular with the dining public who can now order pasta and get a glass of wine delivered to their home with it.”
Another bill being proposed would grant temporary liquor licenses to restaurants with many reopening. A permanent license could take up to six months to get approved. The restaurant industry is also calling for the passage of legislation that will make alcohol in outdoor dining settings permanent.
