THE SPOTLIGHT SERIES, a bi-monthly live streamed concert series created by A LITTLE NEW MUSIC will spotlight musical theatre team Janine McGuire and Arri Lawton Simon on Tuesday, March 2nd. The event will be co-hosted by co-producers Luke H. Klipp and Kila Packett. The executive producer for the ALNM Spotlight Series is amy francis schott.
This dynamic duo, who have been featured writers in two ALNM concerts, will look back at clips from the archives as well as present a new work for our viewers. The Board of Directors of New York Theatre Barn have announced the exciting addition of four new members to its board: Robin Gorman Newman, Jiles King, Matt Redmond and Karreem Washington. Under the direction of Joe Barros (Artistic Director) and Jen Sandler (Associate Artistic Director), New York Theatre Barn is a non-profit anti-racist theatre company that has served as a home for original culture shifting musicals during incubation since 2007.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music goes virtual this year for the annual celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The festivities include a keynote speech by Alicia Garza, co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Network, and performances by Grammy Award-winning gospel and R&B artist and Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton, Tank and the Bangas lead vocalist Tarriona Tank Ball, Vy Higgensen s award-winning choir Sing Harlem!, 2020-2021 BAM Artist Resident poet Timothy DuWhite, and spoken word artist Ashley August. New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of its New Works Series on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 7PM EDT, featuring excerpts from the new musicals Our New Town and Elektric. The live 1-hour presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team.
The new musical Our New Town has book and lyrics by Gabriel Jason Dean (Heartland) and Jessie Dean, and music and additional lyrics by David Dabbon (Beetlejuice). In the aftermath of the deadliest shooting on a college campus in US history, surviving cast members of Thornton Wilder s Our Town put together an unauthorized show as a way to reclaim their theatre space and heal their broken community. But when the event is stopped mid-performance, the cast and audience must decide between compliance or defiance.
