GREEN RIVER Green River High School (GRHS) Senior Sandra Figenser is off to the Big Apple to attend the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts (NYCDA) following her graduation this year.
Figenser said she has been performing longer than she has been speaking, and her goal has always been to make a life out of her passion for performance art.
“I made my brother and sister act and sing in Christmas programs with me before I knew we were performing. Sometimes these performances were torturously long for my extended family,” she said.

Figenser has been in a number of productions throughout her life, and while attending GRHS, and her hard work and talents have paid off. She has been offered two $11,000 scholarships to attend NYCDA, which is a two-year, private-acting college in New York City.

Erie s Elijah Lyons is going to the Dominican Republic.
Lyons, 20, a 2019 Cathedral Prep graduate and a student at The New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, appeared as a virtual contestant on Wednesday s airing of Let s Make a Deal on CBS.
Like the other costumed contestants, Lyons wore a red shirt with fake, large muscles underneath and a headband, as he played his way to the trip.
When host Wayne Brady asked Lyons if he wanted to trade away the trip for a chance at a larger prize, Lyons opted to keep his vacation to the Caribbean nation.
Lyons told the Erie Times-News after the show s airing that a travel agency is supposed to contact him in the next 90 days to make travel arrangements. He plans to take friends along with him.
