Associated Press president and CEO Gary Pruitt called the attack on Saturday by Israel’s air force on a tower block in Gaza that housed offices occupied by several media outlets a development that has “shocked” and “horrified” the news organization.
An Israeli air raid in Gaza City has killed at least seven Palestinians in the deadliest single strike since the battle with Gaza s militant Hamas rulers erupted earlier this week.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) – The Israeli military said on Saturday that it bombed the home of Khalil al-Hayeh, a top leader of Gaza’s ruling militant Hamas group.
The military alleged that the home served as part of what it said was the militant group’s “terrorist infrastructure.”
Al-Hayeh is a senior figure in the Hamas political leadership in Gaza. His fate after the strike was not immediately known.
News organizations are demanding an explanation Saturday for an Israeli airstrike that targeted and destroyed a Gaza City building housing the offices of The Associated Press, broadcaster Al-Jazeera and other media outlets
