Career Center names students of month | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 27, 2021 The Washington County Career Center honors its April Students of the Month, Montana Brown, Katana Felter, and Zoe Graham. Montana Brown is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Auto Mechanics program. He is the son of Alan Smith and Kelli Brown of Belpre and the grandson of William and Ann Kidder of Belpre. At the Career Center, Brown is a member the SkillsUSA youth organization. He has been on the Career Center’s Honor Roll, Merit Roll and the Energy Bus Driver program, for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals.

John Miller The initial trip from Matamoras to Marietta to help in relief of the March 1913 flood found the situation to be more dire than originally indicted. The packet boat, Evelyn, on her return to Matamoras received another load of cargo and headed downriver again. This time additional volunteers joined the transit. The incentive of those traveling was twofold. One was to aid in relief and the other was based on the concern about family members and acquaintances who had moved to Marietta. All the way down the river the relief committee found devastation: at Beavertown, Newport, Saint Marys, and numerous small crossroads along the way. At Beavertown residents had managed to land ten houses by dragging them out of the waters as they swept past.

Arrests/Washington County ¯ A deputy responded April 5 to Waterford Road, Waterford, in reference to Devon L. Taylor reportedly taking prescribed medications as well as some other medications. Beverly Waterford Squad was on scene as well. A summons is being requested for Devon Lee Taylor, 18, on a charge of disorderly conduct. ¯ A deputy began an investigation April 6 into vehicles being entered in Grandview Township and items removed. This case remains under investigation. ¯ A deputy responded Thursday to Main Street, Lowell, to a report of domestic violence at this location.
