Parents said the help goes a long way.
“It really does a lot because earlier in the year I was sick so I was off work, so we’re trying to catch up and stuff, but this helps a lot,” said Sasha’s mom Stephanie Johnson-Cato.
“Barnard school and Ice the Beef, we believe in community, we believe in family,” said Carmon. “Our school here is environmental and community-driven. When you think of community, you think of a village, you think of people coming together.”
Kids were able to come back to Barnard today to pick up holiday gifts. And not only that, because the schools have been fully remote all year long, they were able to get school awards too.

Boughton, a Republican, is currently serving his tenth consecutive term as mayor of Danbury, making him the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history. He will begin serving as commissioner on Friday, December 18, and plans to resign his position as mayor prior to taking on this new role with the state.
“Mark has earned a reputation as being a dedicated public servant and hard worker, and his experience as mayor provides him with a considerable amount of knowledge on the inner workings of government, particularly when it comes to the impacts certain measures can have on the local level, where they are closest to home,”

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced Friday that he’s chosen Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton to be the state’s new tax commissioner.
Boughton, who lost in the 2018 Republican primary in his third run for governor, plans to resign as mayor before taking charge of the state’s Department of Revenue Services on Dec. 18, Lamont said.
Boughton said in a statement that he was “excited about the chance to serve the people” of the state. Legislators still have to sign off on the nomination. In a statement, Democratic leaders applauded Boughton’s selection.
Boughton in his 10th term as mayor, the longest tenure in Danbury’s history, tangled with John Oliver earlier this year over the comedian’s expletive-filled rant against the city on his HBO show.
