Wine, mead, cider, liquor, and finally, beer. Inexplicably left off the list of alcoholic beverages that could be sold at farmers’ markets, the Ontario government announced in its budget that the wrong will be righted and beer sales will be now allowed this summer.
The rules are expected to be like those for other alcohol, namely made in Ontario at a facility that already sells on site.

The change will work well for many small craft breweries throughout Ontario, including farmstead operations.
The newest farm-based brewery, Meuse of Scotland (between Brantford and Simcoe), already plans to sell its Belgian-style, barrel-aged beer at its own nearby market.
