While the Hopewell food bank helps out hundreds of Broad Top area residents each month, the food bank itself is in need of help.
Center for Community Action (CCA) employment and training director Chris Gresko told the Bulletin the food bank is in desperate need of volunteer help from the public. Help is not only needed to distribute food items to food bank clients, but also to help unload it the day before distribution.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and because many of its volunteers are getting older, Gresko said the food bank is in kind of dire straits of its own.

The Elkhart County Parks are holding several events across the county to help the earth, in honor of Earth Day.
Help the DeFries Gardens Bloom: Volunteers are invited to help clean and prepare the garden beds for the growing season.
Please also bring water and work gloves.
This event takes place from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Apr. 24.
The event is located on 17477 County Road 46 in New Paris, Ind.
Battle the Invasion of Garlic Mustard: This event is planned at several parks across the county to combat the invasive species, the Garlic Mustard.

EATON Preble County Common Pleas Court heard cases involving drugs and theft on Wednesday, April 7. Judge Stephen R. Bruns presided.
Joseph H. Hodapp, 31, was sentenced on charges of breaking and entering and tampering with coin machines. Hodapp’s previous record includes charges of theft, escape, trafficking in marijuana, and possession of heroin.
Defense attorney James Van Zant asked that his client be sentenced to an outpatient substance abuse treatment program, citing an employment opportunity in Chicago that might be lost if he were sentenced to inpatient treatment. Bruns was dubious, however.
