Community Bulletin Board: the Sentinel (for June 30) The South River Police Department is reminding residents of its Unoccupied Residence Program. As part of this free program, South River residents can complete and submit a form to let officers know when a residence will be unoccupied. A police officer will check on the home as time permits during his or her normal patrol duties. The Unoccupied Residence Form can be downloaded by visiting www.southriverpd.org or picked up at Police Headquarters located at 61 Main St. Once completed, the form can be faxed to 732-613-6103 or dropped off at police headquarters.

Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for June 30)   A fireworks display will be held July 2 at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge. Gates to the park open at 4 p.m. Officials will present Killed-In-Action flags to families who lost a loved one from Woodbridge in any wars in the past. Call the Recreation Department at 732-596-4048 to register someone. The ceremony should begin at 7:30 p.m. The Nerds will perform after the fireworks. “Bringing the Night to Life” fireworks will be presented by Pyrotecnico Fireworks at around 9:30 p.m. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are encouraged. There is no reserved seating.

Community Bulletin Board: the North and South Brunswick Sentinel (for June 30)   The North Brunswick Youth Sports Festival will be held from July 1-11 by DeVry/Chamberlain University, 630 Route 1 north, North Brunswick. Hours are: 6-11 p.m. weeknights, 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, 3 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, 3-11 p.m. Sundays. Special hours for July 4 are 3 p.m. to midnight, July 5 from 3-11 p.m. and July 6 6 p.m. to midnight. There will be free entertainment, rides, Rosaire’s Royal Racers, High Flying Pages thrill show, motorcycle stunt show, a Gossamer Magic Show and a new Kiddie Land. Fireworks will be presented at 10 p.m. July 4 and at 10 p.m. July 10. Rain date is 10 p.m. July 11.

Published by the New Jersey School Boards Association, the School Board Candidate Kit includes a nominating petition, information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member. Information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the school election process are also included in the kit. Candidates must file a nominating petition with the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office in order to get their name on the ballot for the annual school election.
