NZ Football chief executive Andrew Pragnell says he would be disappointed if the All Whites and Football Ferns don’t play in the second half of 2021.
New Zealand Football recorded its largest surplus in seven years in 2020, but already has plans for spending it. The governing body revealed in its annual report on Friday that it made $2.6 million last year, largely due to the lack of international activity that resulted from the Covid-19 pandemic. It transferred $2.5 million of that surplus to its international teams reserve fund, leaving it with a surplus after transfers of $127,000, and has budgeted to draw $2.4 million from that fund to cover the costs of international activity in 2021.
Paul, a retired Unite the Union official from Edenbridge Road, said: ‘The worst part about it is Travelplanners put a sign up saying thank to their loyal customers but there has been no loyalty back. They didn t even bother to tell us they were going into liquidation.
‘As far as I am concerned, Covid has robbed us of the chance to see our daughter get married – and now it has robbed us of our cash. It is heart-breaking.
Paul’s daughter Lauren, 32, a teacher, has been living in New Zealand for the past two years after her fiance Joe Moore landed an analyst job at New Zealand Football Association.

The Wellington Phoenix are excited to announce the club’s return to New Zealand next month, with the club scheduled to play regular season A-League matches in both Wellington and Auckland for the first time this season. “This will be our first match in New Zealand in 14 months – that’s 433 days since we last played in front of our true home fans in this country,” said Dome.
The Club’s first New Zealand match will be against rivals Western United, to be held at the team’s home of Sky Stadium in Wellington at 4pm on Saturday 22 May.
