Rep. Lori Trahan planning ‘ridiculous number of hugs’ after completing COVID quarantine

U.S. Rep. Lori Trahan is planning plenty of hugs with family members now that she’s out of quarantine after a positive COVID-19 test late last month.
“Quarantine behind us. A ridiculous number of hugs ahead,” the Massachusetts congresswoman tweeted on Tuesday, sharing a photo of an embrace with her two daughters, Grace and Caroline.

Trahan, 47, announced Jan. 29 that she had tested positive. The Democrat had repeatedly tested negative for the virus beforehand.

A group of business, academic, and government leaders from across New England praised President Biden’s proposed stimulus package on Monday as an important step to get the pandemic under control and support economic recovery.
In a letter to the region’s congressional delegation, the New England Council highlighted several aspects of the so-called $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” that members believe “would be particularly beneficial for our region,” including funding for higher education, extension of food security benefits, and additional funding for public transit agencies.

As President Joe Biden prepares to meet Monday with a group of Republican senators to discuss a slimmed-down COVID-19 stimulus package, U.S. Rep. Lori Trahan said Monday that bipartisanship should take a back seat to getting people and businesses the relief they need.
Trahan spoke virtually to the New England Council on Monday from her home in Westford where she is quarantining after testing positive last week for COVID-19. Trahan said she contracted the virus despite being careful, including wearing two masks at times and changing her travel patterns to avoid crowded flights.
