JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported nearly 1,800 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state.
MSDH reported 1,784 new COVID-19 cases and 32 additional deaths Sunday.
Four new deaths were reported between Dec. 14-Jan. 2, while another 28 deaths were discovered during a review of death certificates between Nov. 7-Dec. 28, including two in Marion County and another in Jasper County.
The latest figures brought the state’s total cases and deaths since March to 222,061 and 4,871.

MSDH reported 1,891 new COVID-19 cases and 24 additional deaths Saturday, including two in Forrest County and another in Perry County.
The latest figures brought the state’s total cases and deaths since March to 220,277 and 4,840.
Positive test results may have been made during the past several days and represent individuals who became ill a week ago or more.
