The platform which has been created in conjunction with Translink and Health and Social Care provides a space in bus and train stations across Northern Ireland for messages of support, inspiration and gratitude for front-line staff who have been delivering vital services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Importantly it also provides key workers with an opportunity to share their messages and experiences with the public and ask us to continue doing all we can to support them.
The Minister started the initiative with her own message of support which can be seen in seven stations.
She explains, “Since the outset of this pandemic frontline workers across many different sectors have worked tirelessly to deliver vital services to the entire community.
The Minister said, “Non-statutory training providers are a key part of our skills landscape and play a vital role in delivering the skills necessary to grow the Northern Ireland economy.
“Skills development will play a vital role in underpinning Northern Ireland’s economic recovery following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am determined to do all I can to support training providers to continue to play this vital role.
“I have therefore asked my officials to develop a fund to assist with the increased expenditure required for adaptions to premises and for the purchasing of PPE needed to guarantee the safety of all staff and learners.
“At the recent committee, Sinn Fein’s Agricultural spokesperson, Declan McAleer MLA, asked what bids the Department had made in response to the urgent call by the Finance Minister for bids.
“He said he was astonished to learn that the Department has not identified any additional need and as such has not submitted any bids.”
Councillor Magennis continued, “Farmers and rural community organisations in south Armagh were at the forefront of the response to COVID.
“And many of these same organisations are carrying substantial overheads and running costs for buildings that are not currently in use due to the restrictions.
